From Kalisha’s Desk—March Edition
This month, Youth Emergency Services (YES) is excited to celebrate National Safe Place Week, March 16-22!
Safe Place is a national outreach and prevention program for youth in need of immediate help and safety. When facing a crisis, youth can find immediate assistance at businesses displaying a Safe Place sign, such as local QuikTrip locations or Omaha Public Libraries. Trained employees at these businesses assess their situation, ensure they are safe, offer food and/or a beverage, and contact YES for further assistance. This network of Safe Place locations ensures that youth access the support they need, with YES serving as the National Safe Place affiliate in the Omaha Metro area.
As an affiliate of the National Safe Place Network, YES brings youth in crisis to the safety of our Emergency Shelter. There, youth can enjoy warm meals, hot showers, and the guidance of supportive case managers to help them navigate their challenges. Additionally, our Housing Team is dedicated to expanding our Safe Place network by recruiting and training local businesses, ensuring that youth have access to safe and supportive environments throughout the Omaha metro.
YES is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment where youth can heal, grow, and thrive. By recognizing and representing the Safe Place program, we continue to offer a safe haven for all youth who seek our services.
