Transitional Living Program
Long-term Housing
YES offers a Transitional Living Program (TLP) which provides long-term services to runaway and homeless youth, ages 16 to 21. TLP residents live in apartment-style homes for a maximum of 18 months and work closely with case managers to set and accomplish several goals.
The TLP program is designed to provide an environment in which youth will be able to develop the ability to function independently in the community.
Transitional Living Program (TLP) offers:
Supervised housing
Life skills training
Mental health counseling
Medical screening and referrals
Case management
Working Together
Staff work with youth and young adults to create obtainable goals to be independent in life. Working together, we encourage the youth and young adults to have ownership over their new lives.
Admission Criteria
To be eligible for admission, certain criteria must be met. Any individual between the ages of 16-21 who identifies as homeless, including those who are living on the streets, "couch surfing," residing in a shelter or transitional housing program, or who have been evicted, may apply. If you are under 19 years of age, you must obtain parental or guardian consent. It is important to note that applicants must be willing to engage in case management and support services, either through YES or another available resource, as well as work or attend school.
Program Fees
Participants in the program are required to pay monthly rental fees. However, the first two months are covered by YES and are free of charge. The rental fee increases gradually each month until the participant can pay the full rental amount for three consecutive months. Once this condition is met, the participant is eligible for graduation from the program. When a participant leaves the program, they will receive 80 percent of the total rents paid, minus any charges for damages.
